Problem: At the login screen I get a warning that my browser doesn't
recongnize the server security certificate.
Solution: WWU has choosen not to
pay annual fees to VeriSign for a server security certificate and has instead
issued its own certificate. Here are instructions for
installing the WWU CA Certificates which will stop this message. You only
need to install the first certificate on your computer and it only has be installed
once.
Problem: I forgot my ASPEN password.
Solution: Create a new password using the form below and email
the encrypted password to Dr. Sandvig.
Note: for your protection passwords are stored in the database using MD5 one-way
encryption.
Problem: Nothing happens when I click the login button.
Solution: Your browser may not accept cookies. Most dynamic applications,
including Aspen, require a cookie to keep track of their users. You may lower your
browser's privacy setting to allow cookies as follows:

Launch Microsoft Internet Explorer

Go to Tools in the menu bar and select "Internet Options"

Click the Privacy tab to view your privacy settings. If your settings
are higher than Medium High then this is why you are receiving an error communicating
with the server. To change this setting, move the slider down to "Medium High"
or lower, then click "Apply", then "OK"

Go to Tools in the menu bar and select "Internet Options"

Click the Security tab

Click the Internet icon in the window. In the section "security
level for this zone" will display your current security settings. If your current
settings are not listed, click the Default Level button to make them appear.

If your settings are higher than Medium then this is why you are receiving

down to "Medium" or lower, then click "Apply", then "OK"
